Working Meeting in France of the NEOLAiA Team to Finalize the Project
On February 21–22, representatives of Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences participated in European University Network “Neolaia” meetings in Tours (France).
The consortium of young European universities NEOLAiA, coordinated by the University of Jaén, worked on the preparation of the project budget. The consortium held a working meeting at the University of Tours (France), which was attended by more than thirty participants from the nine partner universities. This was the last face-to-face meeting of the consortium, before the submission of the project, which will take place on March 22.
The NEOLAiA consortium, whose motto is “Young Universities Empowering regionally rooted European talents”, is structured around fifteen work packages that define the alliance’s management areas: mobility; teaching; research; entrepreneurship; diversity and inclusion; interculturalism and plurilingualism and sustainability/dissemination of the project actions. The objective is to generate a resource structure that facilitates synergies in the above aspects and to improve the position and effectiveness of the universities that make up the consortium in the medium and long term.
At the meeting, the participants focused on drawing up the project budget and reaching the final agreements, with a view to finalizing the drafting of the project. At this meeting, the participation of each partner in the various proposed activities (more than 25) was determined, as well as the project’s associated partners (chambers of commerce, research centres and non-European universities, among others).
Parallel to this meeting, about 15 students from the nine universities that are part of the consortium met to establish the foundations of what will become the NEOLAiA Student Network. From Šiauliai State UAS, student Viktorija Valaitytė from the Construction study programme and Ugnė Zaveckaitė from the Social Work study programme together with students from other Universities presented their proposals to the consortium and their point of view to involve students in NEOLAiA.
About NEOLAiA: The NEOLAiA consortium is made up of nine universities: the University of Ostrava (Czech Republic), Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava (Romania), the University of Bielefeld (Germany), Siauliai State University of Applied Sciences (Lithuania), the University of Orebro (Sweden), the University of Salerno (Italy), the University of Tours (France), the University of Nicosia (Cyprus) and the University of Jaén (Spain), coordinator of the group. These are nine young European universities, of medium or small size, that are committed to their social and economic environment and with a preponderant position in rankings, particularly those that analyse the positioning of young universities, such as “THE Young Universities”.
