Visiting professor from Latvia

Visiting professor from Latvia dr. Aija Klavina spent two weeks at Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences in November 2022. The guest professor from the Academy of Sport Education of Latvia gave a two-week lecture course “Adapted Physical Activity in Health Care (in English)” for students of Physiotherapy study programme.

“Teaching 2nd year students of the Physiotherapy study programme was a great professional and personal experience. Students demonstrated a high level of engagement during classes. They showed great collaboration skills and friendly relationships. For example, we discussed healthy lifestyles for the elderly, and it was nice to see how students performed the group work on this topic. Also, students were enthusiastic about solving problems related to the health challenges of the elderly while discussing the health services available for the elderly in Lithuania.” – said the professor.

During the visit, the professor also met with the lecturers and the administrative staff and shared her professional experience.

“The visit at the Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences in November 2022 was a tremendous educational and cultural experience. I was impressed by the high quality of teaching environment at the Rehabilitation Department. The staff was friendly and supported me throughout the visiting period.” – commented Dr A. Klavina.   

The staff of the Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences had a great experience welcoming the professor from Latvia. During the visit, staff members discussed future collaboration, such as joint research and participation in conferences. 

“Overall, it was a great pleasure to work with students and to meet the teaching staff. I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to all my colleagues at the Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences who were involved in the preparation process for my visit. I’m looking forward to collaborating with Lithuanian colleagues in future!” – shared the professor. 

Dr Aija Klavina’s teaching visit was supported under the contest “Support for Foreign Teachers Coming to Provide Lectures at Lithuanian Higher Education Institutions” organized by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Lithuania.
