Unforgettable internship memories

Fiona Lim from Airlangga University, Indonesia, participated in an Erasmus+ short-term blended traineeship mobility at Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution. Fiona visited our institution from May 11 to May 15, and the traineeship was concluded during an online meeting on May 29.

We are pleased to share Fiona’s reflections on her experience in Šiauliai:

“Before joining this programme, I honestly never imagined that I would one day visit Lithuania, especially Šiauliai. But coming here became such a beautiful discovery for me. I really enjoyed how peaceful and quiet the city was compared to bigger cities. Walking around Šiauliai and enjoying the slower atmosphere made me appreciate the beauty of simple daily life.

During my internship, I had the pleasure of working with the International Relations team, where I was able to see and experience the behind-the-scenes preparation of international programmes and activities. The moment I joined, we were already able to work together comfortably as a team, always helping and supporting each other whenever needed. Being involved in the process made me realize how much I enjoy being in an international environment and learning about international relations.

I loved meeting people from different countries, listening to their stories, and learning about different cultures and ways of life. Even small conversations felt very meaningful because I could always learn something new from the people around. One thing I also really enjoyed was learning and picking up small words from different languages. Even though we mostly communicated in English, it was fun to hear different languages every day and slowly become familiar with them.

What made this experience even more special were the people I met along the way. I spent a lot of time with other international students and my colleagues at the International Office, and they all made me feel very welcomed. The friendships and memories I created here made leaving much more difficult than I expected.

This experience helped me grow personally and gave me many unforgettable memories. I am really grateful for everyone I met during my time in Šiauliai and for the opportunity to experience a place and culture that was completely new to me. Ačiū, Šiauliai, už viską!”
