Scientists from nine countries took part in an international scientific conference

On April 14, researchers from several countries gathered at the conference "Higher Education for the Sustainable Development of a Smart Region"

Several dozen scientists from nine countries took part in an international scientific conference held in a hybrid mode at Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences: Albania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Georgia, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Hungary and Lithuania.

The director of Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences dr. Lina Tamutienė welcomed the participants of the conference and emphasized the importance of research and cooperation for the prospects of a smart region.

During the plenary session the issues of innovation and international relations in higher education, the retrospectives and perspectives of sustainable development of Šiauliai region, the future financial specialist, and the impact of Covid-19 on the transport sector were discussed.

The four sections of the conference focused on the current challenges of higher education, experiences and challenges in health care, innovation, development and the search for sustainability, and a separate section on various issues related to the social sciences and humanities. 

All conference participants will be invited to prepare articles for the peer-reviewed journal of Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences “Professional Studies: Theory and Practice“ on the basis of the presentations.
