Let’s celebrate Užgavėnės (Shrove Tuesday) together!
All employees and students of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija are warmly invited to celebrate Užgavėnės (Shrove Tuesday) in a friendly, cosy and delicious atmosphere.
The celebration will take place on February 17, from 13:00 to 14:00. This is a great opportunity to take a short break from daily work and lectures, chat with colleagues and friends, share a laugh and enjoy a pleasant lunch together.
The event will be held simultaneously in two locations:
– In the Central Building, participants are welcome in the Erasmus+ leisure space on the 4th floor at Aušros al. 40.
– In the Faculty of Health Care, the celebration will take place in the 1st floor lobby at M. K. Čiurlionio St. 16A.
Participants are invited to bring homemade pancakes and a variety of toppings. We will share, taste, and enjoy them together. Hot tea and coffee will be provided, and there will be an opportunity to warm up pancakes on site. Feel free to come with a smile or bring a Užgavėnės (Shrove) mask if you wish – everyone is welcome.
From February 9 to 20, two Užgavėnės (Shrove) mask exhibitions will be on display at Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija.
In the lobby of the Central Building at Aušros al. 40, visitors will be greeted by wooden Užgavėnės (Shrove) masks handmade by Saulius Tamulis, a folk artist from Šiauliai and a dedicated preserver of Užgavėnės (Shrove) traditions. Each mask has its own character, mood, and story, reflecting Lithuanian folk humour, worldview, and archaic symbolism.
In the lobby of the Faculty of Health Care at M. K. Čiurlionio St. 16A, visitors will see wooden Užgavėnės (Shrove) masks carved by students of folk artist Eugenijus Arbušauskas. These masks stand out for their craftsmanship, authenticity, and practicality and are designed to be actively worn during Užgavėnės (Shrove) celebrations. They represent traditional Užgavėnės (Shrove) characters.
We look forward to welcoming everyone and celebrating Užgavėnės (Shrove) together.
