International week: new experiences, the joy of new connections and unforgettable impressions

On May 13-17, Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution hosted the 8th international week, during which the aim was to establish new contacts and promote further cooperation. The event welcomed guests from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, Turkiye, Ukraine and Germany.

The activities of the international week began with familiarization with institutions and cultures.  Institution director Dr. Lina Tamutienė welcomed the participants, and Erasmus+ mentor Elžbieta introduced Lithuania, taught Lithuanian words and organized a quiz. International Relations Coordinator Guoda introduced Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution to the guests. The participants presented their universities, and in the afternoon there were cultural presentations where representatives of each country brought some snacks and drinks to share with each other. The International Relations team dressed up in Lithuanian national clothes, and the Institution’s community also participated in the event.

The second day was dedicated to getting to know the Faculty of Health Care. Faculty vice-dean dr. Lina Garšvė and the heads of the Biomedical Sciences and Social Work Departments showed the learning bases, and the head of the Rehabilitation Department organized yoga with "Šiaulių letenėlė" puppies. In the afternoon, the guests visited Šiauliai city municipality's day social care center "Goda", where they got acquainted with the services provided and participated in a color orchestra concert.

On the third day, the participants got acquainted with the Faculty of Business and Technology. Faculty dean Dr. Ingrida Vaičiulytė showed the study bases, the participants rode tricycles built by students of the Department of Transport Engineering. Lecturer Roberta Stonkutė led the workshop in the Šiauliai Art Gallery, and the day ended with an excursion to the "Rūta" chocolate factory, where the participants got to know the history of chocolate and made delicacies themselves.

On the fourth day, a trip to Naisius and the Hill of Crosses was organized for the guests, where educational activities were held: making pots from clay and making leather keychains. Guests also had free time to walk around Naisiai.

On the last day of the International Week, individual meetings were held with representatives of the departments, during which the possibilities of further cooperation were discussed."
