International Week 2022: Experiences Fostering Communion

The International Week 2022 held at Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences on April 11–15 left unforgettable impressions.

Guests from Spain, Turkey, Poland, Latvia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Albania, Kosovo, and even the Dominican Republic participated In International Week 2022!

The team of Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences prepared a cultural and cognitive program for colleagues from foreign countries, shared good experiences with guests, and organized informal workshops.

During the International Week, the guests got acquainted with the institution and made contacts. The International Relations staff spoke about the institutions Erasmus+ exchanges and challenges they have faced over the last two years. The guests also shared their experiences of how their institutions handled the implementation of Erasmus+ activities during the pandemic period.

Director of Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences dr. Lina Tamutienė, was pleased to see so many guests and thanked everyone for their cooperation, willingness, and opportunities to share good practices. Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences lecturers Alma Prėskienienė and dr. Donatas Dervinis told about their Erasmus+ mobility experiences. Andrius Steponavičius, a third-year student in the Production and Logistics Management study programme, spoke about the two semesters spent studying in the Czech Republic under the Erasmus+ exchange program. Hakan Topal and Omer Faruk Bilik students from Turkey, presented their impressions of the time spent studying at our institution. Foreign guests talked about their institutions as well. After the official part of the event, guests had a sightseeing tour of Šiauliai landmarks. The evening ended with dinner at the restaurant "Žemaitis''.

An open lecture on applied research methodology was organised for International Week guests. Lectures were given by lecturers from King Juan Carlos University in Madrid.

The guests got a tour of Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences faculties’ facilities and resources and got acquainted with the study programs. The day ended with two workshops. Workshop for staff "Motivation – Why Should I Do Erasmus+?“ was led by prof. Rasa Pocevičienė. Another workshop was for students “Erasmus+ And Me“ led by lecturer Laima Milkintaitė.
 
The guests also were invited to observe the international scientific conference "Higher Education for the Sustainable Development of a Smart Region" held at Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences. After the conference, the day ended by a trip to the Hill of Crosses.

On the last day of the week, there were individual meetings with guests, during which certificates were issued.

International Week 2022 is over, and the International Relations Office of Šiauliai State University of Applied Sciences is already considering the ideas for next year's event.
