Higher Education Diplomas Awarded at Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija
On 26 June, the community of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution gathered in Resurrection Square to celebrate the end of the academic year with a graduation ceremony. Nearly 400 graduates received their higher education diplomas, marking the successful completion of their studies.
The celebration featured a live musical performance by Lithuanian artist Justinas Jarutis and his band. Graduates, their families, and guests were welcomed by the Vice Mayor of Šiauliai, Justinas Švėgžda, and the Director of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution, Dr. Lina Tamutienė.
"Today we have gathered in the very heart of the city of Šiauliai – not only to award diplomas, but to celebrate the people whose knowledge, competences, and values will help shape the future of our communities, our city, our region, and Lithuania. This celebration is important not only for our graduates but also for the academic community, parents, families, social partners, and benefactors – everyone who believes in the value of higher education.
Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. Thanks to your support, today we celebrate not only the completion of studies but also the beginning of new opportunities. The true value of education lies not only in knowledge but also in experience. It is through experience that we gradually develop the inner compass that helps us stay on course when life offers no ready-made answers.
Today you receive a Professional Bachelor's diploma – a nationally recognised higher education qualification. However, a diploma is much more than a certificate of graduation. It confirms that you are prepared for professional practice requiring not only knowledge and competences but also responsibility and the trust of society," said Dr. Lina Tamutienė in her address to the graduates.
The Institution’s benefactors also attended the graduation ceremony, congratulating students and presenting scholarships and awards for outstanding academic achievements.
The Intus Windows Innovation Scholarship was awarded to Arūnas Vaidyla, a part-time student in the Automation and Electrical Engineering study programme.
Representing the Šiauliai Business Women's Network of the Šiauliai Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Crafts, Aida Adeikienė presented a scholarship to Žana Morkūnaitė, a part-time student in the Construction study programme, in recognition of her academic achievements and outstanding final thesis.
The social services organisation Sidabrinė pieva awarded a scholarship to Eglė Ermanienė, a student of the Social Work programme, for her excellent academic performance and successfully completed final thesis.
Graduates were also congratulated by the Lithuanian Association of Civil Engineers. Its representative, Mantas Šakočius – himself an alumnus of Šiaulių valstybinė kolegija / Higher Education Institution – presented awards for outstanding final theses to two Construction programme graduates, Gabija Kačkauskaitė and Žana Morkūnaitė.
